  • 56,650 jobs in Wind energy
  • 34,200 jobs in Solar energy
  • 13,300 jobs in Biomass industry
  • 12,650 jobs in Geo-thermal industry

  • There are 60 million plus farmland acres in the Southeast (AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC).
  • Of these 294,000+ farms, there are 25,519 minority farm owners. 16,872 are African-American, 5,080 are Hispanic, 2,280 are Native-Americans.
  • Organic cropping systems use about 30% less fossil fuel energy than conventional systems.
  • The U.S. is 2.263 billion acres, of which 745 million acres, or 33 percent, is forested.

The southeastern region of the United States is rich in agriculture, forestlands, wetlands and coastal sea life. Understanding how these delicate components work together in establishing a green environment and the role underserved and limited resource landowners, farmers and businesses must play in the planning process for the region will be the theme and published results of SoGreen Network’s Greening The Southeast Summit.
