SoGreen Network's Sustainable Professional Certificate
A 4 hr session in which participants will learn what is expected in various green industries in terms of training, education, and experience. Each participant will be able to evaluate their current educational plan and work with a presenter on how to use the curriculum at their institution to prepare them for positions such as corporate or governmental sustainable officer.

Organic Certification Training Session
A very intense 8 hr session that will train farmers on the principles of organic growing and the best practices for sustainable agriculture. Participants will leave with a “how to” develop a farm plan, a review of their state organic certification application and the fundamental basics of organic growing. Ten (10) farmers will be selected to become a part of SAAFON (Southeastern African American Farmers Organic Network). Their initial certification application will be paid for.

MOU Signing with EPA and Florida A&M University
Formal Signing of the MOU between EPA and FAMU

The MOU is an agreement between Florida A&M University (FAMU) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in areas of mutual interest and implementation of the Program Activities to build FAMU's capacity to [1] encourage trans-disciplinary collaborations and partnerships in order to support the mission and work of the President's FAMU Environment and Sustainability Council; [2] pursue the University's sustainable future by engaging the University in educational and environmental actions that foster a healthy, prosperous, environmentally and socially responsible campus community; [3] support efforts to establish a prospective Center of Excellence in Sustainability & Energy Policy, Research, Education, and Outreach on FAMU's campus; [4] support the continuation of the Center of Excellence for Watershed; and [5] apply to training and technical assistance to build the capacity of local stakeholders committed to improving and maintaining the natural and economic resources of their watersheds.

Freshman Climate Change Rally – FAMU Critical Thinking Seminar
FAMU Quality Enhancement Program 1000 student will attend a mandatory orientation session. The session this year will be conducted by SoGreen Network and will focus on the environmental issues that include the definition of “green”, what is climate change, how do you as a student get involved and what role culturally have we played in maintaining our environment.

Southeastern Green Networks Centennial Farm Award will recognize an African-American family that has retained the farm for 100 years. A Florida family farm will be given the award.
